Walk/Don't
Walk (16" x
18" digital mixed media
on paper) I am 27 years old, and I do not have a driver's licence. This is not because it was revoked, nor is it because I failed the test - I simply have never learned. This is partly due to laziness, but my main excuse is that I have never really needed to drive because I have always lived and worked near public transportation. That, and the idea of being the only person in control of two tons of moving steel absolutely terrifies me. Being a longtime pedestrian, my life is punctuated by a series of walk signals. They dictate my every move and are responsible for maintaining the flow of my day. While I will eventually get my licence and I will then be at the mercy of the top part of those signals, for now I'm stuck being one of the little people being told to "walk/don't walk." |
